Cyprus is a small island and sovereign country in the far Eastern part of the Mediterranean, just South of Turkey. It is a resource rich island that has been under Egyptian, Persian, Venetian, Greek and Turkish ruling. The island is today split in two parts with an actual border in between: the southern, larger part is called Greek Cyprus. The Northern part is called Turkish Cyprus.
